A female police officer who was off duty shot and killed a robber after he attempted to grab her gun

On January 17th in Chicago, a female police officer who was off-duty fatally shot a man, Leevon Smith, who attempted to grab her gun and attack her, even after she repeatedly warned him by saying "I'll kill you." The officer is a member of the city's police force. The incident occurred after the officer intervened in a fight involving Smith and three other people outside an apartment building on the dangerous South Side. After the other individuals departed, the officer engaged in a brief conversation with Smith before he made the aggressive move, resulting in the officer using her firearm to defend herself. Smith was hit three times in the stomach and passed away from his injuries three days later. Video evidence confirms the interaction between the officer and Smith.
