Andrew Tate and Brother Tristan Detained in Romania Over UK Arrest Warrants

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been detained by Romanian police after the UK issued European arrest warrants for the pair over alleged sexual offences in Britain.

The internet personalities, who are dual UK-US nationals, were taken into custody on Monday night. They are due to appear in a Romanian court on Tuesday.

Andrew Tate, 37, and Tristan, 35, "categorically reject all charges", according to a statement from their representative. The charges are said to relate to allegations from 2012 to 2015.

"They are dismayed and deeply troubled by this bewildering revival of decade-old accusations," the statement said. "They categorically reject all charges and express profound disappointment that such serious allegations are being resurrected without substantial new evidence."

Romanian authorities stated the European arrest warrants were issued by British authorities over the alleged exploitation of people in the UK.

The court hearing on Tuesday will decide whether to execute the UK warrant for the brothers' arrest.

This is a separate case from the ongoing investigation in Romania, where Andrew and Tristan Tate are accused of rape, human trafficking and forming an organized crime group to exploit women through an adult content business. The brothers deny all charges.

Andrew Tate, a self-proclaimed misogynist, has previously been banned from social media platforms for expressing misogynistic views. He claims there is a conspiracy by Romanian prosecutors to silence him, despite a lack of evidence.

The former kickboxer has gained notoriety and a large online following, particularly among young men, for his controversial views and lavish lifestyle.
