Cristiano Ronaldo Fined, Suspended for Provocative Gesture

Cristiano Ronaldo, star forward for Al-Nassr, has been suspended for one match and fined for provoking rival fans during a recent Saudi Pro League game.

The incident occurred after Al-Nassr's 3-2 victory over Al-Shabab. Video footage shows Ronaldo cupping his ear toward chanting Al-Shabab fans, then making a thrusting gesture in their direction. Opposing fans were chanting the name of Ronaldo's long-time rival, Lionel Messi.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) ruled that Ronaldo violated Article 57-1 of the Discipline and Ethics Regulations. He must pay fines totaling approximately $8,000 ($10,000 riyals to the SAFF and $20,000 riyals to Al-Shabab). The decision cannot be appealed.

Ronaldo will miss Al-Nassr's upcoming game against Al-Hazm as a result of the suspension.
