"I Can Absolutely Win Again": Tiger Roars Into Hero World Challenge Return

Tiger Woods is making his return to competitive golf at this week's Hero World Challenge, his first event since withdrawing from the Masters in April. In his press conference on Tuesday, Woods discussed his health and confidence heading into the tournament.

Woods stated he is "not concerned at all" about walking 90 holes after undergoing ankle fusion surgery in June. While other body parts still cause him pain, the surgery eliminated his severe ankle discomfort. Woods said he knew he could compete again after serving as a caddie for his son Charlie in November and recovering well each day.

When asked if he believes he can still win, Woods definitively said "Absolutely." He explained the Hero World Challenge, which benefits his foundation, has often been his comeback launching point and a "nice spot to turn the page."

Woods also addressed the PGA Tour's surprise partnership deal with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf league in June. He admitted feeling "surprised" and "frustrated" by the process and joined the Tour's policy board in response to ensure players have input going forward. While governance changes have been slow, Woods is "pleased with the process" now and determined to prevent a repeat of players being left out of major decisions.

While noncommittal on his schedule, the 82-time PGA Tour winner emphasized his motivation remains to compete. Woods stated that when he feels he can "no longer win," he will walk away. But for now, Woods relishes the challenge ahead this week in his first tournament back.
