Kendrick Lamar's pgLang Releases Limited-Edition Minimalist Phone

Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free's company pgLang has collaborated with tech firm Light to design a new cellphone. Only 250 of the "pgLang for Light Phone" models will be available for purchase on pgLang's website starting November 2.

PgLang shared a video unveiling the minimalist phone, which lacks a web browser or color interface. It is marketed as a less distracting alternative to modern smartphones.

Lamar and Free founded pgLang in 2020 as a "multi-lingual, at service company." This month, pgLang also debuted a Chuck 70 sneaker collaboration with Converse titled "Driven by Luck." The launch was accompanied by visuals featuring artists Baby Keem and Dominic Fike.

The pgLang phone represents the company's first foray into technology products. The limited quantity drop builds hype while allowing pgLang to test demand. If successful, a wider release may follow. For now, the 250 handcrafted pgLang for Light Phone models offer Lamar fans and minimalist tech enthusiasts exclusive access to the burgeoning company's aesthetic in a functional new form.
