Madonna Sued for Starting Concert Over 2 Hours Late

Two Madonna fans filed a lawsuit against the singer over a concert in New York last month that started over two hours late. Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden are suing Madonna, concert promoter Live Nation, and the Barclays Center venue for false advertising, negligence, and deceptive trade practices.

The concert was scheduled to begin at 8:30pm on December 13th, but didn't actually start until after 10:30pm, ending around 1am. The plaintiffs allege that had they known the show would end so late on a weekday, they "would not have paid for tickets."

According to the lawsuit, Madonna has a history of starting her concerts extremely late, sometimes by several hours. Other shows on her recent "Celebration" tour also reportedly began over two hours past the printed start time. The fans are seeking unspecified monetary damages.

This isn't the first legal complaint against Madonna for tardiness. In 2019, a fan sued over a delayed concert but dismissed the case a month later. Madonna has previously defended her late starts, saying in an Instagram post that "a queen is never late." Her 40-city "Celebration" tour features her biggest hits to mark the 40th anniversary of her breakthrough single “Holiday.”
