Mike Tyson Says Francis Ngannou's No. 10 Boxing Ranking Is "Too Low" After Tyson Fury Fight

Legendary boxer Mike Tyson weighed in on the WBC sanctioning body ranking MMA fighter Francis Ngannou at No. 10 in its heavyweight rankings. Tyson said the ranking is "too low" after Ngannou's impressive debut against Tyson Fury.

Ngannou lost a split decision to WBC heavyweight champion Fury in a special crossover fight in October. But Tyson, who helped train Ngannou for the bout, argued he deserves major credit for his performance.

Tyson said, "He did a great job with one of the greatest fighters of all time. His first time boxing, fighting for the heavyweight championship, fighting against the best heavyweight of his era. He deserves a lot of credentials after that."

The former undisputed heavyweight champion felt Ngannou warranted an even higher ranking than No. 10. He reiterated that for Ngannou's first ever pro boxing match to come against an elite like Fury, he proved his skills.

Many boxing experts and fans slammed Ngannou's ranking as unwarranted boxers typically work their way up the sport's ladder. But his trainer Tyson believes the WBC made the right call in recognizing Ngannou's credibility after trading blows with one of history's top heavyweights.
