Nigeria to Evacuate 5,500 Stranded Citizens from Sudan

The Nigerian government has announced plans to evacuate over 5,500 Nigerians stranded in Sudan due to the ongoing conflict in the country. The evacuation will be carried out by road, and will involve students, workers, and other Nigerian citizens who are currently in Sudan. The government has said that it is working with the Egyptian government to facilitate the evacuation, and that it expects the first group of Nigerians to be evacuated by the end of the week.

The conflict in Sudan began in December 2022, when a military coup overthrew the country's democratically elected government. Since then, there has been widespread violence and unrest, and thousands of people have been killed. The United Nations has warned that the situation in Sudan is a humanitarian crisis, and has called for an end to the violence.

The Nigerian government's decision to evacuate its citizens from Sudan is a sign of the seriousness of the situation in the country. The government has said that it is committed to the safety and security of its citizens, and that it will do everything it can to bring them home safely.
