Stephen A. Smith Chides Jada Pinkett Smith Over Remarks About Will Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith's recent media interviews promoting her memoir have sparked controversy by revealing new details about her marriage to Will Smith.

In the interviews, Pinkett Smith disclosed that she and Smith have been separated since 2016, despite outwardly appearing as a couple. She also discussed topics like Smith's infamous Oscars slap, her friendship with the late Tupac Shakur, and more.

Reactions to Pinkett Smith's comments have been critical from some, believing she has further damaged Smith's reputation. One prominent critic was TV host Stephen A. Smith.

In a recent episode of his YouTube show, Smith accused Pinkett Smith of disrespecting her husband and not honoring her wedding vows. He referenced her previous remarks about an entanglement with August Alsina and being surprised when Smith still referred to her as his wife after the Oscars incident.

While stating he would not personally criticize Pinkett Smith, Smith argued she failed to show "compassion, decency, respect" for her spouse by "emasculating" him publicly. He contended someone needed to confront her treatment of Smith plainly.

The revealing interviews have provoked debate over Pinkett Smith's openness concerning private marital issues versus protecting her husband's public image. Her memoir comes amid ongoing fallout for Smith from the highly publicized Oscars controversy earlier this year.
