The Jets, Chargers, Cowboys, Cardinals, and More: NFL Week 2 Overreactions and Reality Checks

Week 2 of the NFL season is in the books, and with it comes a slew of overreactions and reality checks. Here are a few of the biggest ones:

Overreaction: The Jets should move on from Zach Wilson.

Reality check: It's too early to say.

The Jets lost their first two games of the season, both by large margins. Wilson, the Jets' second-year quarterback, has struggled so far, completing just over 50% of his passes and throwing four interceptions.

Some Jets fans are already calling for the team to move on from Wilson, but it's too early to say whether he's a bust or not. Wilson is still a young player, and he's playing on a team that doesn't have a lot of talent around him.

It's important to be patient with Wilson and give him the time he needs to develop. If he's still struggling in a year or two, then the Jets may need to consider moving on from him. But for now, it's too early to give up on him.

Overreaction: Brandon Staley's seat is hot.

Reality check: It's too early to say.

Staley is the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Chargers lost their first two games of the season, both by one score.

The Chargers are a talented team, and they're expected to be contenders in the AFC. However, they've struggled to close out games in recent years.

If the Chargers continue to lose close games, then Staley's seat could get hot. But for now, he has the support of the Chargers' front office.

Overreaction: The Cowboys are the best team in the NFL.

Reality check: It's too early to say.

The Cowboys have started the season 2-0, and they've looked impressive in both games. They have a high-powered offense led by quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and their defense has played well so far.

The Cowboys are certainly one of the best teams in the NFL, but it's too early to say whether they're the best. They still have to play a number of tough games, including games against the Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings.

Overreaction: The Cardinals are doomed.

Reality check: It's too early to say.

The Cardinals have started the season 0-2, and they've looked lost in both games. Quarterback Kyler Murray has struggled, and their defense has been one of the worst in the league.

The Cardinals are certainly in a lot of trouble, but it's too early to say whether they're doomed. They still have a lot of talent on their roster, and they're still playing in a weak division.

Overall, it's too early to make any sweeping judgments about the NFL season based on the first two weeks of action. There are still 16 games left to play, and a lot can happen in that time.

Here are some other overreactions and reality checks from NFL Week 2:

  • Overreaction: The Giants are a playoff contender.

  • Reality check: It's too early to say.

  • Overreaction: The Broncos are the worst team in the NFL.

  • Reality check: It's too early to say.

  • Overreaction: The Jaguars are a comeback team.

  • Reality check: It's too early to say.

  • Overreaction: Tom Brady is washed up.

  • Reality check: It's too early to say.

It's important to remember that it's just two weeks into the NFL season. There is a lot of football to be played, and a lot can change. So don't make any sweeping judgments just yet.
