Troy Basketball Mourns Loss of Former Player Ke’Ajia Williams

The Troy University women’s basketball program is grieving the passing of one of their former players, Ke’Ajia Williams, who died earlier this month at age 21.

Williams, a Montgomery, Alabama native, played basketball at Troy University after transferring from Shelton State Community College in 2022. At Shelton, the forward helped lead the team to two regional championships, averaging 8.2 points and 6 rebounds per game.

The Troy roster described Williams as a versatile post player who contributed at both forward positions. She was expected to bring valuable experience and talent to the Troy lineup before her sudden and tragic death.

To allow the team and coaches to attend Williams’ funeral, Troy’s Sun Belt Conference opener against Georgia State has been rescheduled from Saturday to 1pm Sunday.

The university did not release the cause of Williams’ death, but the young athlete's passing has brought great sadness to the Trojan basketball program. Players, coaches and fans are mourning the loss of a dedicated teammate and student gone far too soon.
